about time!

January 17th, 2007

Finally, we’ve moved into the new building at my middle school. I’ve been teaching in this crappy open lunchroom with MDF walls and open ceilings where everyone can hear everyone else. It was noisy and cold and ugly, and I haven’t been able to eat lunch with my students. But finally things are starting to look up.

New classrooms
The new classrooms are much warmer than the old ones

I spent last Saturday moving all my stuff from the old teachers’ room to the new one. Actually my stuff only took about 30 minutes to move, including my desk. I seriously don’t know why all the other teachers had shelves full of old crap, or why they didn’t sort and discard the week BEFORE moving, but it took the rest of them all morning to get their stuff moved. And with the Internet not yet wired into the new office, I had little else to do but take photos. Unfortunately most of them turned out underexposed because of the polarizing filter, so I won’t post most of them; actually what you’re seeing has been heavily reprocessed. I think I need to fiddle around with the orientation of the filter or maybe remove it completely.

It’s time for some Engrish! This is a popular bar chain in Seoul, apparently with more than 4 branches.

It appears that my server is back up and running. Very good. And I’m also back in Japan again. With a new camera.
