noise

Some days, like today, I sit in the office and do nothing. Well, that's not entirely true.

I program things on my computer. I surf the internet. And, I try to ignore the people around me, who are unfailingly noisy.

There's the woman across from me, who always agree with everything the men say, with a sound like a cross between a dying horse and air being let out of a balloon. There's the man behind me, who can't seem to open his mouth when he speaks; everything he says comes out "molologobololo". There's the guy who yells at students who come to the teachers' room to ask for keys or papers or just because they were told to come when they finished something. They're supposed to announce what their name is, what class they're in, and who they came to see. Usually they come while three groups of teachers are shouting across the room at each other (instead of walking over to have a conversation). Inevitably this one teacher finds something wrong with each one's introduction and berates them in front of the whole staff. At the top of his lungs, across the room, of course.

On top of this, the school is under construction. Cutting or drilling concrete is rarely a quiet affair.

I need a break. I think I'll bicycle out to the 7-11. Again.

I thought your area was relatively quiet compared to the rest of Japan:)
