the game of “oni”

March 3rd, 2006 by Jeff Leave a reply »

I just finished playing a funny game of tag with the third grade girls. One or two people are chosen as the “oni” (devil) and the rest are people. The people try to avoid the oni. When the oni touches a person, that person has to freeze in place until they get tagged by a moving person. The game is over when either the oni gives up, or everyone gets frozen.

For some reason I couldn’t stop laughing! It was so much fun. I can’t remember having that much fun in 3rd grade. Man, what was I missing? I love this job.

Megan and I are helping run the youth group at our church so I can see why you find this job so rewarding. It is a worthy job, to teach young people and share your life experiences with them.

You’re telling me you never played Freeze Tag in elementary school?

We used to call that Stuck in Mud.
