Sorry Mom

I know you warned me not to buy this…but I needed a way to get around the countryside and the streets are so narrow. Trust me, this is safer than one of those little tin can cars. It’s more maneuverable! *wink*

And oh my god is it ever so fun. Not as big a motor as most American bikes, so it’s harder for the bike to run away from me. Not that I’m that kind of driver.

Blue and silver Kawasaki ZZR250
This is a Kawasaki ZZR250. And it’s SO MUCH FUN.

The cost was about $3000USD, including compulsory (liability) insurance for 2 years, and comprehensive insurance for 1 year. The dealership threw in a nice Snell-approved helmet and two pairs of riding gloves free of charge. Quite nice. Now all I need is some rain gear. I’m going to get a riding jacket and some pants too.

At least it’s blue. I’m sending a St. Christopher’s medal for you to glue to it somewhere. Sheesh.

    Congrats, Jeff! Freakin’ awesome.

Aw, and I really like the Kawasaki green. Looks good anyway.
Do you need a separate driver’s licence for motorcycles in Japan?

  4. Jeff says:

Yeah, they actually have three different motorbike license classes: up to 125cc, up to 400cc, and unlimited. My international permit is good for up to 400cc, and if you get a 250cc bike, you don’t have to pay shaken. And that alone makes it worth getting another license.

Apparently this model doesn’t come in green… but this is pretty much exactly the model I wanted, and certainly in the color I wanted.

Hot. Should use it in a bike chase scene sometime.
