In English you often hear people say, “Good luck.” In Japanese the phrase you say in situations like that is “Gambatte” which means “keep at it” or “keep trying your best.” I guess if you’ve got perseverance the rest just follows.

    It could also be that Japanese people hate relying on luck and prefer to do everything without the help of it – which makes sense to me.
